I don't know much about the inner-workings of modern efficiency bulbs, but when the remote control is pushed, it lights up bright, like it's a normal bulb. There is nothing to suggest 'magic prop' in it because it's a real efficiency light bulb and I think the internal battery activates the actual diode or whatever normally creates the bulb's light. It shines that real.
The remote control appears to be 3D printed and is nicely designed. The activation is done by pressing a side of the remote, which is slightly raised away, like a peddle of sorts. It does make turning the light on and off very simple and is superior to a button. It has a telescoping antenna for longer distance activation if needed so a you or a confederate off stage could activate the light bulb. An elastic strap is provided for concealing the switch on the body.
The item comes with the bulb, a light socket to screw it into for charging (the usb cable plugs into that, not the bulb), the remote, a strap, a warranty card, a usb charging cable, and a nice drawstring cloth bag to keep the bulb safe inside. It is a real bulb though so care still must be taken to prevent breakage.
It's a bit of an investment but a good one if you want a remote activated light bulb.
