I agree with Robert Rooke's assessment of this effect, though I'm going to bump it up one star because I saw it performed at a magic shop and they sold every one. It's true that I did suspect the lid had something sneaky going on, and possibly some spectators did as well, but the demonstrator did the illusion flawlessly and acted natural in his handling and blew the audience's mind when he handed the lid for examination with the rest of the props. I don't think anyone suspected the dice placement as having any significance. Personally I suspecting magnet interplay at work, but I was wrong. There is no magnets nor gimmick dice and as Robert mentioned, the method is very clever, and very practical. Personally, I've never cared for the 'last item going into the pocket and magically reappearing' bit of business. I know many tricks use it for a simple elimination of an extra, but I just think it smells fishy. There are alternatives to it, in this case a nice French drop or fake transfer to a hand and magic penetration through the box lid looks far better. For the price I agree it's a fun trick to have and from experience, if practiced sufficiently it can really amaze.
