The 2018 line is certainly an interesting one. There's a blindfold effect, a starry sky card revelation, the return of an already released effect, a chocolate bar plus item, and this one. Being a Tenyo collector, I'm a big fan of their plastic-based creations and what I look forward to each year. Some, well quite a few to be honest, aren't practical for carry-around, but never were mean't to be. I've always viewed Tenyo magic as a celebration of Japanese cleverness and ingenuity, both of which they excel in and have fascinated us with for decades. As Robert Rooke touched on, there are a couple of issues to deal with when performing it, but I can happily say I've used it twice and both times with great success. I added a rubber band to the prop, which if you have it you'll have an idea what I'm getting at. I use it to keep the lid and label on and which gives me an excuse to put it back on after the item(s) have been chosen. The prop has worked perfectly each time. I also mention to the spectator(s) to make sure the food items are clicked down into their spots "...to keep anything from rattling when the lid is placed on." It's a false reason but sounds logical.
The box isn't examinable unless all the food items are in it, the lid put on and not removed by the spectator (another good reason for the rubber band). The effect also mentions 2 items being chosen but in actuality any number can be. Another idea for this prop is as a utility prop for the one-ahead principle.
I was hoping for something a little more devious here but am quite satisfied with its traditional Tenyo appeal.
