I'm going to focus this review on the 3 sectioned doghouse and not so much on the sponge dogs. First of all before starting I'd like to add this will certainly become a collector's item in years to come because of its classic plastic apparatus prop that Tenyo collectors yearn for, so with the current price this is quite the bargain. Unlike many Tenyo plastic props, this trick is one you can actually carry in a jacket with loose pockets as it is pretty solidly built. It's no going to break or anything during typical strolling activities. It's a little bulky but I carry it around in my evening jacket that has loose zippered pockets with no problems whatsoever. I use a rubber band which keeps everything together.
The trick itself deserves a solid 5-stars for one main reason, in my opinion, and that is for the fact that it's a fun visual trick to perform for kids, which I feel is overlooked with new close-up magic. If you are or planning to be a close-up stroller consider that many tables you perform at will have children present. This trick is perfect in those situations, it's easy to follow and with 'Mystery Doghouse' some of the parents will become equally fascinated watching it. Even the ones who aren't will appreciate it for the fun their children are having. It is fun, innocent, visual magic for them to watch. The dogs are very delicate as Robert Rooke mentions and have to be for the box to operate correctly. I'd like to add however that any really soft sponges can be substituted for a different presentation or if the dogs get ruined somehow. They're just sponges, the 3-room prop is the secret. If you have knowledge of sponge magic you can incorporate slight of hand to secretly load chambers for a wide variety of routines possible. The sponge dogs can be easily hidden within the crease of a bent finger. Cool prop, great deal, highly recommended.
P.S. One last thing I'd like to add about the prop is that it also can be used for a 'mental epic' 3 phase mind reading trick. If you are familiar with that you should see where I'm going with this. Small pre-folded paper billets work with the prop.
