'Security Lock' by Tenyo is my personal favorite of the new 2015 lineup. It is self-contained and tough enough to carry around during my close-up gigs. It's not self-working however and requires some practice and spectator management to perform the full routine smoothly.
The main secret of the spectator being unable to remove the card yet you can without effort isn't groundbreaking nor actually anything new. David Harkey uses the principle in a card trick where the spectator can't remove a deck from its card case yet you can easily ('Budge', explained in 'Simply Harkey', pg. 79). When I was young an old man showed me a thin wood box he'd built that had a wood slat that he could easily slide in and out but I couldn't. In 'Security Lock' Lubor Fiedler has taken that basic principle plus added a couple of extra idea for performing it.
The props are typical Tenyo, plastic but well made. Some assembly is required, none difficult though accuracy is a must. The lock is larger in size and has a toyish feel to it, it is however made of metal and weighty. It can be examined without scrutiny.
Normally I give new tricks which use older ideas 4 stars, but since it's a Tenyo item that's well made and is actually usable for my walk-around performances I'm bumping it up to a full 5 stars. For the price it's a real good deal and if you don't know the secret already you'll be delighted with it's simplicity in nature.
