There are a number of magic square routines out there, I know a few myself, but none that have taken the mathematical magic stunt to the level 'Ultimate Magic Square' takes it. The picture / writing on the face of the 4 X 4 grid makes it seem impossible for any other sum to be possible and somehow the spectator settled on that total without any coercion. This makes for a fascinating trick that even a non-math enthusiast can appreciate.
Like most other magic squares some initial calculation must be done, however thanks to Christoph Wasshuber's clever idea of using dice to determine the total, this innocently reduces the possibilities from 3 - 18 and keeps the calculating at a easy level. There is nothing hard about it whatsoever and with a little practice will become 2nd nature. The mathematics required are elementary in nature. Two main methods of setting up the cards for the revelation are explained, the videos you've probably already watched demonstrate the 2nd, the 1st method is pretty much the secret in raw form and probably the way a math teacher would explain it. The 2nd method is the most practical and probably what most performers settle on and combined with intermediate card skill create a very honest and straightforward illusion that will baffle anyone, magicians alike.
Some magicians may have an idea of how it's done but still won't be able to figure it out. It is intriguing and worthy of 5 stars. This math magic nerd is happy with this purchase.
