I first started using John Kennedy's Mind Power Deck about 20 years ago when it had an unusual back to it. I was so excited a few years ago when it came out in Bicycle backs, so I bought it again!
You can do this with one, two, or even three people. You don't always get it right first try (e.g., you may say "red" when theirs was "black"),, but after making a wrong guess, you will nail it quickly. Beware that occasionally, the spectator flubs up and you won't be able to get it. But with good audience management, and the right instructions, it should work each time.
This is based on an old idea that Kennedy turned into a really clever gaffed deck. It amazes people—the reactions are consistently great. Only once did I have a guy say I was trying to narrow his card down and when I immediately told him his card, he was stunned. "I guess not," he said.
There is a small amount of memory work, and if I don't use it for awhile, I have to refresh my memory. But it's not a lot, and well worth the small amount of effort. Looking back, getting this is a no brainer. This won't stay in your magic junk drawer. The only downside I can think of (other than it works 99% of the time, not 100%) is it is a dedicated deck. You cannot do other tricks with it.
