Magician borrows a quarter and a half dollar from audience (or may use own). He places the half dollar in a coaster and covers with a glass, so the coin is trapped under glass.
Then magician brings the quarter to upturned bottom of the glass and instantly the quarter penetrates the glass, landing into the coaster and clanking loudly against the half dollar.
