One card is chosen from the deck and then mixed back into the deck, until it is lost.
Now the magician offers the spectator the chance to make a small bet.
He takes out a US half dollar and throws it to the other hand, to ask if the coin is “Pile or Face”.
Since this phrase is French, he explains that “Pile” means "Tails", and “Face” is the French way of saying "Heads" in English.
In other words "Heads or Tails"
Let’s say the spectator says “Pile”.
Magician flips the coin a few times for examples, then he closes his fist and asks which side is up: Pile or Face?
When he opens his hand, no longer is there a coin in his fist. The coin has transformed into a battery.
There`s another surprise..... the battery can be unscrewed and inside the battery they will find a mini card that matches with the chosen card!
In other words, they both win: the magician for finding the right card and making it appear in his hand... and the spectator for being such a good sport, for which a gift is offered... signed card, kiss, etc...
(This is how the routine has been presented in French. Even without using French, you can enjoy this trick, with your own routines.)
