This non-stop flight of fancy from imagination to reality comes from Arai, one of the most famous close-up magic creators.
(Effect)
Magician displays 4 "invisible" cards. He tells audience, "I have 4 of a kind. In other words, I have one Spade, one Heart, one Club, and one Diamond."
He asks volunteer to choose one card of those 4.
Then magician reaches for an envelope that was already sitting on the table before he started the routine. He takes 4 cards out of the envelope and displays them. Audience can see that all 4 cards, both face and back, are blank. He places the cards on the table, one by one. When he reaches the last card, audience can see that, rather than blank, it now has a design on the back. He flips over the last card. Amazingly, the face of the card is not blank. It matches the suit chosen by the audience.
Next, he squares the 4 cards and he removes one "invisible" card from the packet. He pantomimes throwing the invisible card into his pocket. Then he fans out the cards, and there are only 3. They are all blank on both sides. The volunteer's chosen card has vanished.
Magician allows the volunteer to reach into his pocket. In the pocket, the volunteer finds a card. Of course, it turns out to be the chosen card.
(NOTE)
