In 1918 the GREAT HOUDINI, at the Hippodrome theater in New York City, made a 10,000 pound elephant named JENNIE disappear from a large box.
The act was called THE VANISHING ELEPHANT. It created a sensation and made Houdini even more famous than he already was.
NOW YOU CAN PERFORM THE VANISHING ELEPHANT, using Dick Barrys utility prop called, THE VANISHER.
A small black box (only one and a half inches in size) and an even smaller toy elephant is handed out for examination.
The box has NO trap doors, secret panels, etc.
A spectator places the elephant into the box. You place the lid on the box and shake it so everyone can hear the elephant is definitely INSIDE the box.
You remove a small magic wand from your pocket and run it through 2 small holes, located on the sides of the box. The box is now suspended by the wand.
After saying some MAGIC WORDS the magician removes the lid and places the box and the lid on the spectators outstretched palm.
The elephant has totally VANISHED! Your hands are shown empty!
The box, once again, can be examined.
The spectators will find no trickery hidden within the box.
If you prefer you can vanish almost any small items in THE VANISHER box. (The box can hold big rings or coins as large as half-a-dollar.)
The vanished object can appear later at almost any location you wish. It can also make items APPEAR! A GREAT UTILITY PROP!
